I'm Gio, a landscape and wildlife photographer based in Gloucestershire, working mainly within the Cotswolds and South West England.
My work is shaped by where I shoot. The valleys here hold mist on cold mornings; the escarpment catches first light. I tend to be out before most people are up — the hour before sunrise is when the landscape feels most like itself, and that's the hour I keep coming back to.
I'm drawn to the transitional hours — the ones either side of full daylight, when the landscape is at its quietest. Soft light, layered distance, a single tree in fog, the silhouette of wildlife at the edge of a wood. The pictures I'm proudest of are the ones that feel still — that look just like they felt.
I shoot with a Sony A7RV. I’m lucky enough to be able to say 90% of the images you see were taken only a small drive from where I live, so I’m always returning to the same places in different conditions until they give me something worth keeping.
Prints will be available here soon. Until then, if you'd like to get in touch — about a print, a location, or anything else — the contact page is below.
