Passo Giau at sunrise, September 2026. This was my final morning exploring the Italian Dolomites, driving two hours from our Airbnb along endless mountain twisties that were a bit too much fun at 5 AM (sorry Mum). Shot from the rifugio at Passo Giau, this frame captures the monumental scale of the limestone massifs against the slender ribbon of road carved out to explore them. These are the kinds of roads so intertwined with raw nature that putting a conventional service station here would be an absolute disservice, pardon the pun!
